3D Printer – Part 2

After reassembling the printer using t-nuts instead of the square M4 nuts I have to re-calibrate the printer.

Since I moved the end stops up I now have a height of 329.72, up from 316.40.
I know the heights are off as aligning the end stops visually is not too easy. I am however only a couple mm off the centre point of the build plate.

So the first step in the calibration is to set the height.

The second step is to calibrate the Z pillar height.
Do this using G0 Y80 Z10 F2000.
This should get us in front of the Z pillar but 10 mm off the bed.
Now we manually lower the nozzle by 1 mm until we get to our paper on the bed.
In my case I hit the paper at 1 mm.
So I need to adjust the screw by 2 turns down.
Send the printer home and repeat.
This time I touched at 0.6 mm, so another half turn on the screw and send it home.
A couple more trips and I finally have it zeroed in.

The third step is to set the X pillar height.
Do this using G0 X-70 Y-41 Z10 F2000.
This should get us in front of the X pillar but 10 mm off the bed.
Repeat the same steps as for the Z pillar until we get it zeroed in.

The fourth step is to set the Y pillar height.
Do this using G0 X70 Y-41 Z10 F2000.
This should get us in front of the Y pillar but 10 mm off the bed.
Repeat the same steps as for the Z pillar until we get it zeroed in.
Surprisingly it was right the first time.

Now we check the centre point again.
I am at -0.5 mm now.
Resetting the height puts it to 330.61 mm.
Now to re-check the pillar heights.
Of course things are off again but my Z pillar is only +0.7, so a half turn up on the screw and try again.
The X pillar was +0.9 mm.
The Y pillar was +1.0 mm.

Now the height is set to 331.00 mm.

After calibrating the pillars and running the auto calibration routine the values are now:

Since I am presently using a 16 tooth pulley I have left the X, Y, and Z axis steps at 100. The extruder is still at 154 steps.
